High-resolution satellite image from the National Ice Center taken on 23 February 2000. Our southernmost two drill sites are indicated as 2A and 6A. Because of the heavy ice cover, we had to modify our plan and drill east of survey Site 2A. Recovering the last core of Leg 188.


Working in ice and snow and trying to keep the rig equipment from freezing up was not easy for the drill crew. Gathering on the catwalk to welcome the recovery of the last core of Leg 188.
