Drilling at the Kuroshiro Current site very close to our destination port of Keelung (Taiwan): first core on deck!

Nicole Januszczak, K.Y. Wei, Matt Salisbury, and Bernhard Diekmann are happy about the first core on deck and put the mud immediately to good scientific use!

Simon Dean in front of the full core rack three days before the end of the leg. New 10-m long cores came up every 20 minutes and had to be run through several core-logging stations.

The Leg 195 ODP technicians on the new walkway to the crane.

Not much to do for the petrologists: Mette Kristensen and Massimo D'Antonio work on a puzzle while gray-green mud is being recovered and described.

Visit of the Japanese Coast Guard at Site 1202. The patrol vessel Hateruma was not the only ship that was attracted by our drill ship operating in coastal waters.
