Rig floor staff attach the ACORK head to the top of the casing before lowering it below the rig floor to the moonpool area, where the final hydraulic connections will be made.

After 50 hours of hard work assembling the ACORK, Ray Corn (Cabett Services, USA; left) and Tom Pettigrew (ODP Operations Engineer) stand next to the top of the finished product before it is lowered through the moonpool and to the seafloor.
 

Gary Austin (USA) makes some final adjustments to the ACORK plumbing before it is lowered through the moonpool doors while Tom Pettigrew (ODP Operations Engineer) looks on.


Masataka Kinoshita (Japan) checks out the platforms that will be placed on top of the ACORKS to allow remotely operated vehicles (ROV) and submarines to land on them when they visit to download data and perform maintenance.
