Assembling the ROV platform on the moonpool doors. The ROV platform is lowered over the ACORK head at the seafloor. This platform provides a stable base where submarines and remotely operated vehicles can settle onto so that they can download data and service the ACORK data loggers.

Rig floor crew prepare the wires and cables that will be used to lower the ROV platform to the seafloor.

Tom Pettigrew (ODP Operations Engineer) and Wayne Lambert (Transocean Core Technician, USA) discuss and supervise assembly and deployment of the ROV platform.

The completed ROV platform, rigging, and acoustic release are lowered through the moonpool.

Scott Pederson (Transocean Operations Manager, Canada) coordinates the deployment of the ROV platform with the rig floor while Gary Austin (ACORK Engineer, USA) looks on.

Hiroyasu Ishiguro (Drilling Engineer, Japan), Sanny Saito (Logging Scientist, Japan), and Takao Sawa (Engineer, Japan) enjoy a sunday barbecue.

Technical staff mutiny leaders John Davis (ODP Marine Computer Specialist) and Sandy Dillard (ODP Marine Laboratory Specialist) settle into the co-chief office and contemplate the next scientific move to make. (Actually, they are taking a break from installing cables for the upgrade of the computer network.)
