The abrupt spike in the paleomagnetic data at 8.635-8.651 Ma corresponds to an interval that has been interpreted as Cryptochron C4r.2r-1. However, the age of this event is based on sparse data from marine magnetic anomalies (see "Paleomagnetism," in "Site 1095").
