Exposure is interpreted to be caused by unroofing of the plutonic section on a low-angle detachment fault at the inner corner (IC) of the northern RTI between the Atlantis II Transform and SWIR (Dick et al., 1991b). The IC of the rift valley is the footwall and the outer corner (OC) is the hanging wall of a long-lived low-angle detachment that caused unroofing shortly after formation 11.5 Ma (Stakes et al., 1991).
