Figure F53. Close-up core photograph shows an example of random orientation of coarse-grained and elongate subhedral plagioclase laths of igneous origin with space-filling clinopyroxene. Note no sign of compaction of plagioclase laths or their preferred dimensional orientation, although strong shape aniso-tropy characterizes individual crystals (interval 179-1105A-25R-2, 48-81.5 cm).
