Globoturborotalita woodi is dominant in the early Miocene and Globigerinoides in the middle Miocene, whereas Globoconella and Orbulina are more abundant in the late Miocene. The Pliocene contains abundant such newly evolved species as Globoconella puncticulata, G. inflata, and Globorotalia crassaformis.
