Figure
F44. A.
Thermal demagnetization of Sample 183-1140A-27R-2, 83-85 cm, from basement Unit
1. The intensity decreases mostly at low temperatures up to 200°C.
Directions are scattered, and no characteristic inclination could be determined.
B. Thermal demagnetization of Sample 183-1140A-34R-5, 10-12 cm,
from basement Unit 6. Unblocking temperatures are ~560°
and ~350°C and
indicate that both titanomagnetite and titanomaghemite are the magnetic
minerals. The NRM is a stable single component. J0 is the
magnetization intensity before thermal treatment.
