This directory contains supplementary data files presented as Synergy Software KaleidaGraph plots and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. The files present information that was not readily available from the ODP database at the time of production of this volume, such as shipboard estimates of linear sedimentation rates and mass accumulation rates.

Composite section data files are presented in both KaleidaGraph (.QPC) and Microsoft Excel (.XLS) formats. The KaleidaGraph files correspond to Figures F1-F4 in the respective site chapters. The KaleidaGraph plot files used to create all four figures found in the "Composite Section" portion of each site chapter are provided so that the reader can create custom plots (at any scale) in order to better evaluate the preliminary shipboard correlations and splice tie points.  In addition, the "extract data" option in KaleidaGraph should allow the reader to extract the data on which the plots are based. Note, however, that these data have been heavily smoothed (data lost at the top and bottom of each core). We recommend that the reader use the JANUS database (http://www-odp.tamu.edu/database) to recover the primary magnetic susceptibility, natural gamma radiation, gamma-ray attenuation, and color spectral reflectance data. We also provide the Microsoft Excel files used to process data (e.g., insert rows between cores, smooth, and add offsets before plotting). Excel users may find these files useful for further manipulating these data, but, again, we encourage use of the JANUS database to recover the primary data. Unlike the CD, the JANUS database is updated as errors are discovered.

Linear sedimentation rate (LSR) and mass accumulation rate (MAR) data files are presented in KaleidaGraph (.QPC, .QPL) and Microsoft Excel (.XLS) formats. The KaleidaGraph files correspond to the figure in the "Sedimentation and Accumulation Rates" section of each chapter that portrays the age-depth model, LSR, and MAR. The Excel files contain supplementary LSR and MAR data.
