The high variability of values above ~460 mbsf is likely caused by very low TOC values in these samples. Below 460 mbsf, T_max values are indicative of immature organic matter relative to oil generation and the presence of bitumen, although values approach the "oil window" (dashed vertical lines) at the base of the core.
