The corrected basement depth (D_c) is obtained from the equation of Crough (1983): D_c = d_w + t_s (_s - _m)/(_w - _m), in which d_w is water depth in meters, t_s is sediment thickness in meters, _s is average sediment density (1.90 g/cm³), _m is upper mantle density (3.22 g/cm³), and _w is seawater density (1.03 g/cm³).
