Intensely veined, weakly vesicular and sparsely plagioclase phyric volcanic rock, which is cut by a fine network of quartz-pyrite-magnetite veins with magnetite bearing alteration halos (Unit 26). Brecciation associated with the veining locally imparted a jigsaw-fit pattern on the otherwise coherent rock. In the upper right part of the piece, at 19 cm, a thin anhydrite vein (white) can be seen crosscutting the quartz-magnetite-pyrite vein network (Section 193-1189B-16R-1 [Piece 3, 16-26 cm] at 175.85 mbsf).
