The lower facies is a coarse skeletal grainstone with larger benthic foraminifers, red algae and Halimeda fragments of Miocene age. The upper facies is a skeletal wackestone with planktonic foraminifers deposited in a deeper depositional environment than the underlying lithology. The circled planktonic foraminifer suggests an age younger than 3.2 Ma (see "Biostratigraphy and Paleoenvironments").
