Samples used were provided by the Ocean Drilling Program (ODP). ODP is sponsored by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and participating countries under management of Joint Oceanographic Institutions (JOI), Inc. Travel costs for SNE participation in Leg 194 were paid by the Norwegian Research Council. Costs for SNE time, analyses performed by Reservoir Laboratories AS, and preparation of thin sections of horizontal plugs and whole-core samples were paid by Statoil.
