The matrix surrounding chromite in the chromitite pod consists of chlorite and amphibole (possibly replacing plagioclase or spinel + olivine + pyroxene) and amphibole. The host dunite intruded by the chromitite is also rich in chromian spinel (interval 209-1271B-4R-2 [Piece 2, 38–48 cm]).
