Figure F69. Photomicrograph of a zone of interstitial oxide along brittle shear zones in gabbro. Aggregates of plagioclase neoblasts with plagioclase and clinopyroxene porphyroclasts are separated by fractures filled with oxide. Textures suggest ductile deformation of gabbro, followed by brecciation and infilling by Fe-Ti oxides, perhaps from an Fe-Ti–rich magma (Sample 209-1270B-1R-1, 90–93 cm) (cross-polarized light: blue + light gray filters; field of view = 5.5 mm; image 1270B_059).
