Motion 1-96: A discussion was held on the advisability of permitting additional
coring at Site 983 in the Santa Barbara basin. PPSP judged this proposal to be
inadvisable. This decision is based on conditions encountered in the second
hole cored at this site, which included the presence of a potential reservoir sand.
Action: The Santa Barbara basin is not included in the Leg 167 science plan.
