JOIDES Resolution Paleontology Lab

This lab contains equipment and supplies necessary to process micropaleontological samples. Two hoods are available for chemical maceration, such as with HF, HCl, or peroxide. Additional equipment includes sieves, hotplates (with and without stirrers), ultrasonic baths, centrifuges, several kinds of mounting media, stains, and slides and cover slips for mounting. Reference slide sets of Cenozoic radiolarians are also available. Over 50 bound reprint volumes of paleontological papers, plus numerous other paleontology reference books, provide taxonomic and biostratigraphic resource material for shipboard paleontologists.
