Legacy information for 1985-2003
Data collection procedures aboard the JOIDES Resolution must accomplish three major objectives. They must
- meet the needs of each shipboard participant,
- make it possible to prepare for the publication of the Initial Reports volume, and
- allow the incorporation of the data into the Janus database when possible.
These important constraints -- publications deadlines and cruise-to-cruise data compatibility -- make it important for sailing scientists to understand and adhere to ODP's policies regarding computerized data management.
