Percent silt and clay was quantitatively measured by weighing each sample before and after washing off the clay and silt. The weight of the remaining sand was compared to the weight of the original sample to calculate percent silt and clay. All other percentages were arrived at qualitatively by visually estimating the proportion of each constituent in the sand fraction.
